Aimed to contribute with the generation of conscience in the future mining professionals, upon the need to count with the social license to operate and with the attention that the sector must pay to society's opinion regarding mining and its different stages and processes, is that Argentina Mining held the 2nd Contest for students of mining careers: “What does mining mean to me?” In this edition, the activity was sponsored by Minera Santa Cruz.
Students of mining-related careers participated in the contest. They belonged to universities and institutes of all over the country; they filed a piece of work and obtained a free registration for the convention. A pre-selection reading commission evaluated all the material and selected the 3 finalist pieces of work, which were sent to the jury. The 3 students were awarded with tickets and accommodation in Salta, and received a GPS. The student who won the first place also received an internship at Minera Santa Cruz.
The piece of work of Gabriela Lucía Sanchez, an Industrial Engineering student from the National University of Salta, was chosen in first place. The other finalist students were: Pablo Federico Morales Zullo, Geology student at the National University of San Juan and Cintia Lorena Quinteros, Geology Student at the National University of La Plata.
